ABOUT THIS TRAINING MODULE
THIS PROFESSIONAL TRAINING MODULE OFFERS PARTICIPANTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THE FOUNDATIONAL UNDERSTANDINGS & PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF WORKING WITH CHARACTER EMBODIMENT IN PSYCHOTHERAPY.
WHO IS THIS MODULE FOR?
This training is available for people who have prior foundational training in counseling, psychology, social work or psychotherapy and who want to assess and be informed by theories of character embodiment in their lives and professional practice.
About the workshop
As our body develops, so does our character. Our character and patterns of being in the world then become entrenched in how we are embodied, which is often out of our awareness. This results in characteristic ways of behaving and responding to life; ways which may be attracting the same result but be out of date.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to recognize and work with the different character styles (Reich); Schizoid, Oral, Masochist, and Rigid structures in a compassionate and body inclusive way, whilst also attending to unfinished business and missed experience that is stored within the body.
THE WORKSHOP WILL ATTRACT 12 PD HOURS

Event Details
This professional training module offers participants a chance to explore and develop their group facilitation skills and power of presence, deepen their understanding of what the gestalt approach to group work offers and learn ways to structure content using the ‘safe emergency’ framework. This content will be delivered through experiential learning of being in a group and utilising collective group wisdom.
Spaces in this training are limited, and participants are required to possess undergraduate qualifications in counselling or equivalent.
Participants will learn;
- Gestalt group therapy theory
- System informed group theory
- Group work within teams, organisational groups, training and teachings
- How, we as professional, can create a space within a group setting that is most effective for the flow of healing.
The workshop will cover topics such as contracting, group rules, planning group sessions, the use of ‘self’ as a tool to sense of others, relational dynamics including power and shame, ethics, managing rupture and how to facilitate group endings.
This group would be particularly useful to those considering running a group and needing to workshop their idea. It is also would be particularly useful to people wishing to develop their presence for group facilitation through the gestalt lens of phenomenology, field theory and dialogue. The group itself will learn from its own process as a group in the here and now, making the learning dynamic, embodied and sustaining. It will offer and explore delivery both ONLINE and IN PERSON structured as two ONLINE 3 hour sessions and one two day weekend in person workshop.
